Group ticket or Saver day pass?

Hello! We are a group of 9 adults and 3 kids (14, 8 and 5 years) travelling from Zurich airport to Troistorrents in December. It’s just a one day trip. Which ticket type would be the best for us? We don’t have any Travelcards but I have a SwissPass account.

I guess you are going to ski and just need an outbound and inbound ticket a few days later? Any further travel planned during your stay? When giving advice, it is always helpful for us to know a bit more about your travel plans.

A group ticket would cost you around CHF 82.60 per adult. A Saver Day Pass would start at CHF 59, if you buy early enough. A full fare ticket would cost you CHF 118.

For the 14 and 8 years old, I would buy the Junior Card for CHF 30 each. It is valid 1 year and the kids travel for free provided one of the adults accompanying the children has a valid ticket. The 14
& 8 years old kids are, even when travelling with the Junior Card, accountable as group members to reach the minimum number of group members required which is 10. The 5 years old does not need a ticket at all (and is not accountable as group member).

So, first, check if you can save 9 Saver Day Passes below CHF 82.60. If not, opt for a group ticket.And buy the two Junior Cards at the ticket desk - there is no better deal.

Hello and thank you for very helpful reply! It’s all clear and makes sense.
Indeed, we’re going to ski and also visit our friends in France. Unfortunately, our flight to Geneva was cancelled so we opted for Zurich and Saver Day pass looks like perfect solution for us. However, we didn’t think of Junior Card so thank you for that!

How about Day Pass Children for kids? That seems even better price and I can buy it online now. I can buy tickets for all our group, right?

The Children’s Day Pass works as well, of course. However, if you plan to use the train on another day, for example to head back to Zurich Airport (in case you do not fly out of France), the Junior Card is less costly (pr child: CHF 30 vs. CHf 38).

Yes, you can buy the Saver Day Passes for all of your group members. Simply make sure you are going to enter the names and the date of birth correctly (as in their passports) and you choose the right date of travel. A refund is only possible within the first 30 minutes after purchase.

Thank you! Our flight back is from Geneva and we hope it stays like that.
Just one last question - I have entered all my co-passengers in my account in laptop. However, when I download app to my phone and log in, it says no co-passengers saved. Is there any way to get that info to phone app or I have to enter all names afresh?
