Day Saver Pass

I’m planning to buy a Saver Day Pass from Basel to Grindelwald, however on the landing page of SBB, I can click the link for Saver Day Pass and choose the month however, there’s no option for me to choose the location? Am I missing something? Or do I need to enter the locations first?

Yes, you are missing the convenient fact that the Saver Day Pass is valid for the entire public transport network on the day of validity. Thus, there is no need to enter start / end destinations when purchasing the SDP.

You are welcome to hop on / off public transport services at will, no matter where. Our trains are considered mass transit; you simply get on board a train and find a free seat - that easy.

Thanks Roland. It’s very different here in the UK. Thanks that’s very good to know and it’s very convenient indeed. Also, does this ticket similar to DB’s pass such as last time I was in Germany, I purchased a Baden-Wurttemberg ticket and I was able to travel up to Schaffhausen with no additional fee. So am I allowed to trab using this pass to thw next border city like Konstanz or maybe Colmar as their border towns/cities?

Yes, the SDP grants unlimited access to the Swiss public transit for a day. Mountain trips are excluded, apart from a few exceptions.

We also do have point-to-point tickets; however, when the cost for the point-to-point is higher than the actual cost for the Saver Day Pass, you are better off buying the Saver Day Pass. Simply keep in mind its price is incressing the nearer the day of travel and it cannot be cancelled (no refund).

Hi Roland,
About to buy the SDP saver and would just want to make sure before committing to get one of I can buy this kind of pass on its own? Or do I need to get the Swiss Half fare card first which is of no of use for me since I
will only be Switzerland for a couple of days.
