Friends Day Pass for youth card question

Hello, 4 of us will be flying into geneva and taking the train from there to interlaken, and interlaken to zermatt in one day. The pass states that it is “valid for unlimited travel on all routes within the GA travelcard area for that day”.

After looking online, I believe that both trains (geneva to interlaken, interlaken to zermatt) are within the GA travelcard area? I would like to confirm that this is correct with the community.

Yes, your research and conclusion is correct 🙂
It is valid to Zermatt yet not on the lifts or mountain trains in and above Zermatt.

Yes, it is valid for all public transport services indicated as red, yellow and blue solid lines on the validity map.

Do we need to book anything? or will we just be able to enter the trains and choose our seats freely?

Also, I am assuming that we will be able to take the route from zermatt to geneva via train with the friends day pass as well right?

You can simply hop on/off any public transport service and take a free seat. Only certain PE trains (touristic trains) need a reservation in advance. For other trains, seat reservations are either optional or not possible at all.

The friends day pass is valid on all trains, except for mountain trains. Everyone has to have theoir ID or passport with them (age proof); no copies, no pictures of passports or ID cards, please.

Just wanted to make sure that the RE42, EC, RE41, IC8, IC61, and IR15 are all valid lines for the friends day pass, and are not mountain trains. These are the lines I will need to take from geneva to interlaken, interlaken to zermatt, and zermatt to geneva.

Yes, they are all covered.

Mountain trains that are not covered are, for example,

Zermatt - Gornergrat, or
Wengen/Grindelwald-Kleine Scheidegg-Jungfraujoch

All red / yellow / blue solid lines are covered by the pass, while dashed lines indicate a tunnel (and is, in terms of validity, considered a solid line). Only for dotted lines and grey lines, the pass is not valid.
