Even if you have an old (invalid) passport, that would be okay. You simply have to be able to prove that your wife is one and the same person. We know, you do know, but it has to be obvious to the conductor as well.
To request a refund for duplicates, the name has to be identical. And, a new Saver Day Pass may cost more as the price is raising over the time. Working as a ticket inspector, I can tell you that an old passport (or driving licence) is accepted. This workaround only has the disadvantage that you have to carry both, the current valid and the old one. However, still less costly than to cancel and repurchase the ticket.
Don’t worry, you will not face any issues if you proceed as I told you above.
