Hi Everyone,
My family (including kids) and I are excited to be visiting Switzerland in early April! We’ll be flying into Geneva and staying for 4 nights.
Current Itinerary:
We will be flying to Geneva and then take a train to Lucerne, where we’ll base ourselves for the entire trip. From Lucerne, we’d like to explore several day trips:
Day 2: Lucerne to Mount Titlis
Day 3: Lucerne to Mount Rigi
Day 4: Lucerne to Zurich and Rhine Falls
Our flight back to the UK on Day 5 will depart from Basel.
Questions:
- Swiss Travel pass: We’re wondering if the Swiss Pass is worth the cost, considering our planned itinerary. Are there any budget-friendly alternatives for getting around and enjoying the sights? Also, do we need to buy it online only or we can buy it once we reach Geneva? Anything extra we need to do for kids?
I read about Tell pass as well. There are so many passes, i am totally confused what should i go far.
- Do we need to book the tickets in advance after buying the Swiss travel pass? We have not booked any train tickets yet. Not even from Geneva to Lucerne
- Can we do Mount Titlis and Mount rigi in one day? or one of the mountain and Zurich in one day? Trying to see if we can save sometime to see any other place?
- If its raining, what should we plan to do and what should we avoid?
General Tips: We’d also appreciate any general advice you have for planning our trip - things to see or do, must-try foods, etc.
Thanks in advance for your help!
