If I purchase a point to point ticket with no halffare pass can I upgrade to first class?

Yes, provided you hold a standard point-to-point ticket, you can purchase a point-to-point class upgrade.

Doesn’t it have a link on your e-mail to do so?

You can also save it as a PDF. Working as a ticket inspector, I must say, tickets saved in the wallet are difficult to scan, and the ticket check takes much longer than if you show it directly out of a PDF.
