Hi lpuerto
Children aged between 6 and under 16 who are travelling alone or with an adult pay half price or the minimum fare for their ticket. If you are a parent who regularly travels with your children, we recommend you purchase the Junior Travelcard (CHF 30 / year). The Junior Travelcard enables children aged between 6 and under 16 to travel on public transport free of charge when accompanied by a parent. The accompanying parent must hold a valid ticket or travelcard.
A GA for children under 6 does not exist. This is not necessary as children under 6 travel free of charge, alone or accompanied.
To obtain a GA Travelcard Familia for Children, you need a basic GA in the family. The first parent’s basic GA Travelcard can be any of the following: GA Travelcard for Adults, GA Travelcard for Youth, GA Travelcard for 25 Year Olds, GA Travelcard for Seniors or GA Travelcard for Disabled Persons.
A Half-Fare travelcard for a child aged between 6 and 16 is not necessary. Children of this age travel automatically at half price.
With the Junior Travelcard children aged at least 6 and under 16 can travel throughout Switzerland free of charge for a whole year when accompanied by at least one parent. If children aged between 6 and 16 are not travelling with a parent, they will have to pay a half-fare ticket. Alternative: Children’s Co-Travelcard.
More information about our offers for children can be found here.
All the information is available on our online site (click on “Menu” in the top left-hand corner, then on “Tickets & offers”). If you have any further questions, I recommend that you book an appointment at the SBB Travel Center.
I wish you a nice day.
Best regards
