Saver Day Pass-Seats

Never traveled on Swiss Train before. Apologize for not understanding the system.
Q: We arrive Basel (airport) on Sunday May 19. Flight lands 1025AM. Have Saver Day Pass (1st Class) to get us to Zermatt. There’s a train at 1228 and after that 1256. We hope to make one of these. My question is about Seats. Once we board (whichever train we can get first), i assume we take any seat in the 1st Class cabin. How likely we’ll be able to get seats in 1st Class? Are trains typically full leaving Basel (then Visp after our single connection) on Sundays (mid day ish) in May? Thank you.

In Switzerland, trains use the free-seating approach. There is no need to reserve seats, not in 1st class on a Sunday noon-ish. For the train from Visp to Zermatt, you cannot reserve seats anyway.

Whesecoa90 Pleas note that your Saver Day Pass is also valid for the transfer with the bus number 50 between the airport and the station.

And with your arrival time you will probably be in the 11:56 train, or with a bit of luck on the 11:28. But that is the beauty of the Swiss public transit system. You just take the next train that goes where you want to go when you arrive at the station…
