Is it possible to take early train for discounted International ticket

Can I know if possible to take early train for my discounted international extension ticket from Zermatt to Brig as the next schedule to Milan only have 7min time to change train, we afraid to miss our connecting train if we take original booking as arrive at Brig at 14.37 and Brig Milan at 14.44

No, this is not possible. If you have a ticket that clearly indicates the departure time, you must stick to this connection.

You are free to purchase another full fare ticket if you want to travel earlier.

The timetable would not offer that connection if was per se impossible. And, you are not the only group doing this change.

Simply be prepared at arrival in Brig to get off the train, and to change tracks - all will be fine.

Dear23 I suggest to visit the ticket office in Zermatt to clarify the situation.

Normally no discount prices are available between Brig ans Milan, I suppose that the discount is for Switzerland. You could perhaps take the next train one hour later from Brig and book a new reservation for this train free of charge.

You have misheard. You only need to check in for regional trains in Italy, not for any train where you have a reservation.
Regarding your ticket: Look at the validity of the ticket. The Brig to Milano ticket will be valid for the train you booked, but the ticket for Zermatt - Brig will probably just mention that it is valid from 00:00 on your travel day, till 5:00 the next day. In that case you can just take an earlier train to Brig.

There are indeed reduced international connection tickets for Switzerland, which are, as the VAT is not applied, only valid in combination with an international train ticket and only valid on the train(s) as indicated on the ticket.

Whether it can be changed to an earlier train is to be checked with the counter agent. Usually, same regulations as for Supersaver tickets do apply, thus no refund, no exchange.

I didn’t mean an earlier train in Zermatt, but a later train from Brig to Milan (at 15:44).

I made a test and I obtained these results:

1 × Discounted International Extension Ticket, Zermatt – Brig Bahnhofplatz 
Valid: We, 15.05.2024 
Departure time: 13:13 
CHF 18.60
1 × ADULT/STANDARD, Brig – Milano Centrale 
Valid: We, 15.05.2024
 Departure time: 14:44
 CHF 39.00

The ticket for Italy is STANDARD, it is exchangeable.

In 1st class, SMART2 tickets are also available, they are exchangeable with a surcharge (upgrade to STANDARD price).

In this case, we have a mix of non-flexible tickets for Switzerland and semi-flexible or full flexible tickets for Italy.

The ticket for Italy (Brig - Milano C) has a PNR code. It is possible to install the Trenitalia app and load this ticket with the PNR code and the mail address. After this, it is also possible to manage the ticket in Trenitalia app and see if the ticket is really exchangeable or not.

Be aware that if you change a reservation in Trenitalia app, the ticket is no more refundable. I think that the vendor (SBB or other) loses the control of the ticket.

Appreciate for all the reply. Can I confirm that I do not need to check in for Trenitalia ticket from Brig to Milano as we able to find booking in trenitalia but there is no check in button as our train depart today. Thank you
