Zurich to Berlin

Hello,
Our train from Zurich to Berlin (via Basel, Frankfurt) is cancelled and DB has asked us to board any train. Now we have found a direct train Basel to Berlin. Can we use any SBB train from Zurich to Basel with the same ticket?

srikanth If you have a discounted ticket (Sparpreis), you can take another train, but on the same time or later. It is normally not possible to take an earlier train. You can show the information of the DB if the ticket is controlled.

Unfortunately our new schedule is earlier than the one that got cancelled as we had booked late night train.

srikanth It is an exception. You can take an earlier train if you cannot reach your destination on the same day. It was recently confirmed in another discussion.

You can take the earlier train. You have a ticket for a route, not a train. And all trains between Zurich and Basel are operated by SBB, even those with DB logos on them. So originally your trip would have started on an SBB train as well…

If the train you selected during booking gets cancelled a “Sparpreis” becomes a “Flexpreis”. So good for any ticket on the day(s) of validity.

So you can now take any train on the Zurich - Basel - Berlin route basically.
