You probably refer to the Saver Day Pass that allows unlimited travel at will on the day of validity.
Your son does not need an additional ticket, the Swiss Family Card is his ticket and valid in the same travel class as the parent’s ticket.
The Swiss Family Card is recognised as a valid ticket provided the child is accompanied by at least one parent and the parent holds a valid ticket.
