Whether you (already) have a valid half fare card and which exact type it is doesn’t matter at all while purchasing tickets, as this won’t be cross-checked then. The half fare card will only be checked in the train in case of a ticket control, as proof that you’re actually entitled to travel with a 50% discounted ticket instead of full fare.
