Our party of 6 will be travelling from Milan Centrale to Zurich Flughafen in mid October. How can I tell if I’ve booked a fast train for this 4hrs journey.

The trip planner will always offer you the fastest connections by default. But I would not buy tickets for October yet.
Best trains to book on that route are the EC trains.
