Hi all, myself and my partner are travelling between from Salzburg to Lake Comoon the 20/08 and the journey is in two legs: Salzburg to Zurich hb (with OBB) and Zurich to Como S.Giovanni (with train Italia). I have received an email from SBB noting that busses replacement from Feldkirch und Sargans. And have two main questions 1. Will the current ticket I have purchased cover the replacement busses and the train from Sargans to Zurich? And 2. Are the journey estimations of the replacement busses on the SBB timetable reasonably accurate? As we want to allow time to connect at Zurich for the second leg of the journey? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Kyal

Of course, a bus service can always be randomly affected e.g. by a traffic jam due to a road accident. In Sargans, there are several trains per hour to Zurich (e.g. IC3 every 30 minutes).

Thanks for the reply - appreciate your time.

Generally I would assume answers similar to your responses however my concerns were: the notification of delay reading as suggestions for alternatives to book rather than an inclusive set of services (this maybe the translation) and where I’m from you couldn’t set your watch to bus replacements, so just curious on precision, I’ll check previous services leading up to our trip.

Note that you will be travelling on SBB in Switzerland, both for the Salzburg - Zurich leg and the Zurich - Como leg. Neither Trenitalia nor ÖBB run trains in Switzerland. You do not need to worry about connections. You have a ticket Salzburg - Como, and if for whatever reason you miss your connection in Zurich you just take the next train. There is no need to plan in a buffer.
