[INFO] Line closure Interlaken Ost Grindelwald, until further notice

The line (as well as the road) between Interlaken Ost and Grindelwald has been severely damaged during a violent storm that hit the area on the evening of 12 August 2024. Currently, there are neither direct trains nor buses service to Grindelwald.

Longer travel times and waiting times are to be expected.

Message from Jungfrau railways:

Railway traffic between Zweilütschinen and Grindelwald is interrupted. The interruption will last until further notice.

Travellers to and from Grindelwald to Interlaken
Travellers to and from Grindelwald to Interlaken travel via Grindelwald Terminal - Männlichen - Wengen - Lauterbrunnen.

Travellers to the Jungfraujoch
Travellers to the Jungfraujoch travel via Lauterbrunnen/Grund - Kleine Scheidegg.

It looks like there is a replacement bus service now that the road is passable again. Normally the last couple of trains of the day are busses anyway, and they appear to be operating.

We will see what happens tomorrow.

According to latest media reports, the currently interrupted train line between Zweilütschinen and Grindelwald is supposed to resume operation by Fri 16th of August.
