The line between Interlaken Ost and Meiringen of the Luzern Interlaken Express has been severely damaged during a violent storm that hit the area on the evening of 12 August 2024.
The train line remains closed until at least 25 November 2024.
Currently, there are no train services running between Interlaken Ost and Meiringen, and v.v. The trains are substituted by buses, tickets remain valid for the replacement buses. The stations ‘Brienz West’ and ‘Ebligen’ are not serviced by the buses.
Longer travel times and waiting times are to be expected. Tickets issued via Brünig / Meiringen are not valid for travel via Bern. You need in addition a ‘change of route ticket’ if you want to travel via Bern.
