Arcobaleno daily ticket

Hello,
I would like to visit Lugano by train from Milan on Sunday, 25th August. I will travel in Italy with the card “I travel in Lombardy” and understand that in Switzerland I need to buy a separate train ticket from Chiasso to Lugano. Today, I saw on your website SBB that a round ticket costs 10.40 CHF and is the so called Arcobaleno daily ticket with unlimited access to public transport in the whole area. My question is: can I use the public transport with this card in Lugano, as well as the funiculars there? Also, may I ask you where I can purchase this ticket? I would be very grateful if you could also let me know if there are trains on a regular basis on Sunday throughout the day.

You can buy the ticket on sbb-tickets.cc. Just select Chiasso - Lugano round trip and you will be offered the Arcobaleno day ticket automatically.
This ticket is valid on all public transport, so also on the funicular from the Lugano station down to the city. It is not however valid on tourist transports.

sbb-tickets.cc can also show you schedules, so you can check the schedule for Sunday yourself.

Krist , thank you for your answer! Is the card also valid for the Monte Bre and Monte San Salvatore funiculars?

No, a fare network ticket it is for the use of the public transport services within and between inhabited places. They do not grant free rides with mountain excursions.
