Saver Day Pass / Half fare card

I’ll be travelling to Geneva end of October with myself and 5 other adults (total 6 adults)
We are planning on staying in Geneva city for our trip, with the exception of visiting Matterhorn for 2 days.

What would be best in terms of purchasing tickets?

We will be going from Geneva - Visp - Zermatt
Departing Wednesday morning and returning Thursday afternoon

I guess my question is what options are out there for me?
Do I purchase a half fare card + train ticket?
Or do I purchase x2 saver day passes per person (for Wed and Thurs) - alongside the saver passes, do I also need to purchase train tickets also

Any answer is appreciated to ensure I purchase correct tickets

Is Geneva indeed set in stone as a base? Is itf for business? It would be the least city I would choose as a base. It is at the periphery of our country and makes mountain visits a tiring experience due to the immense travel effort forth and back.

Can you tell us more about your stay?

Yes Geneva is set. We are travelling as tourists wanting to enjoy the country. We will be staying in Geneva the whole time just wanted to do a day and half trip to zermatt

I see.

Again, you will spend a lot of time in trains, to commute from Geneva to the countryside and back. Keep in mind that the daylight is getting shorter with every day now. Furthermore, delays on the Lausanne to Geneva route and v.v. are to be expected due to ongoing construction works.

To answer your question: you can use Supersaver tickets, Saver Day Passes or Point-to-point tickets, whatever is available and the most economical. Check the offers using sbb-tickets.cc.

Make sure you purchase them at full fare if you do not have the Swiss Half Fare Card in addition.

Whether the Swiss Half Fare Card is useful depends on your other travel plans. As a rules of thumb, if you are going to spend a total of CHF 240 on travel tickets, the Swiss Half Fare Card will pay off.

Kindly note the conditions on Supersaver tickets which are only valid for a specific connection chosen upon purchase. If you miss the departure time the ticket is no longer valid. They are in particular not recommended when you arrive by air.
