It is well possible that the card was returned to SBB due to the wrong delivery address.
In order to set up the SwissPass Mobile on your phone, you do require the SwissPass card. SwissPass Mobile is not a replacement of your physical card, it is simply another way to show your card. You must have your SwissPass card or your identity card / passport with you whenever you use Swiss Pass Mobile. The ticket inspectors can ask any time for an additional proof of identity.
And, since you will move to Switzerland: keep in mind that greeting someone before asking a question is very important in our country; it feels odd to a local if you don’t.
