Half fare card online - for cable car and local bus?

if I purchase half fare card online, do I have to print it out to show to the bus driver or cable car ticket office or is there a code in the mobile app to show? I bought half fare card before in staffed counter before. So not sure how it works if using the card outside train

This is a no-brainer.

When you have purchased the Swiss Half Fare as a registered user, it will show up in the SBB Mobile app; there is a QR code which can be scanned by any operator provided the Swiss Half Fare Card is being accepted at all.

RolandP hi not a no brainer because i did purchase with my swiss pass account however there are no half fares displayed on my app. i am only able to buy a “point to point class upgrade” that is less than half the price so i am sure is not right. I have been trying to add my pass, but it only shows up as manually added with no display of the actual half price

In the contrary to the resident Half Fare Card, the Swiss Half Fare Card is in fact just a normal ticket that proves that you are eligible to purchase tickets at half fare. It does not automatically activate the half fare setting in your SBB Mobile App, whatsoever.

You have to do that manually for each passenger having the Swiss Half Fare Card and before you purchase tickets for the first time. How? Read my answer here, I explained it with screenshots:
