Where can I see the seatmap/cars of the train I’d like to book? When I reserve tickets for 2ppl, it just gives me the car and seat assignment…I want to choose my own. Is this possible on the website or app? This is between Zurich HB and Milano Centrale

First of all, hello and welcome to the SBB Community.

Booking with SBB, you cannot choose a concrete seat.
You would have to book with Trenitalia in order to choose the seat.

Thank you Roland,

I noticed when I booked 2 people together, it assigned us seats, but not next to each other. Do we just take any seat? How do we know if those seats are already reserved? I don’t want to get yelled at, in German for taking the wrong seats

Hello, you need to take the seat mentioned on your ticket or reservation. However, you can make arrangements with other passengers if you’d like to sit together. It’s likely that other solo travelers will be understanding.

How do you know that you don’t seat together? What are your seat numbers?

For example, if you have the seats 43 and 45 or the seats 44 and 46, you seat together, although the numbers do not follow each other.

Given the train layout, it may be possible that seats are arranged together even though their seat numbers are not in consecutive order.

Danhiel it assigned seat 11 and 21…which are behind one another and not even facing each other. I’m trying to attach a screenshot

RolandP I was looking at Oct 11, but I was only looking at prices. The actual trip isn’t until April, but as you know, the calendar isn’t open for April, yet. 🚆

When you are on board the train you can always:

Check if there are two facing seats that are not reserved.
Ask kindly if a passenger wants to trade seats with you…

You are not glued to your seat. That you have a reservation does not mean you must take these seats.
