Can I buy the ticket at the time of my trip?

Dear all, I am travelling to Geneva by airplane, and since we neve know if a flight will have a delay or not, I would like to buy my ticket to travel to Bulle once I arrive at the airport train station. Is that possible? Will I find a place in the train? What is the best option? I will fly back home the day after. Thank you! Regards, Beatriz.

I assume that 90 % of all public transport users that have to buy a ticket will do that 5 minutes or even less before the departure time.

Simply use a machine or go to the SBB Travel Center after arrival.

Supersaver tickets as mentioned by Krist above are 1.) only available online or in the SBB Mobile app, and 2.) usually until the day before travel for 2nd class. They’re the only ticket type tied to a specific train connection (as opposed to regular point-to-point tickets valid the entire day for any train on the selected route), and they’re basically not refundable.
So while they’re a not that clever idea after an inbound flight (as there’s no refund if you miss your train due to a flight delay), you might consider one for your return trip to GVA if you’re 99% sure that you won’t miss the selected specific train leaving Bulle.

By default tickets are for a route, not a train. In fact you cannot even buy something from SBB that will have “train ticket” written on it.
So you can buy your ticket in advance on sbb-tickets.cc, but make sure you buy a normal point-to-point ticket, and not a supersaver ticket.

Such a ticket is good for any train on the route you bought it for, for a whole day, till the next day 5:00. So you can then just hop on the next train to your destination once you are out of the airport.
