Cancelling of Half-fare subscription

My Half-fare subscription is manually renewed for the past 2 years at the SBB counter. Will it be changed to auto-renew without my consent? I didn’t receive any renewal email. How can I ensure it is not renew upon expiry? Do I have to go to the SBB counter to make sure it is won’t be renew automatically? The card will expire in 2 weeks.

I’m wondering why it was renewed “manually” twice, because a half fare subscription is usually an unlimited contract and therefore renewed automatically for everyone according to the T&C’s (unless cancelled in due time, which is until 1 month before expiration).

Anyway, you should immediately check the status of your current subscription on swisspass.ch. So if anything shouldn’t look right (e.g. cancellation date in Nov. 2025), immediately contact the SBB customer service or visit a counter, to check if they could still do something for you.

Last year, I stressed again to the SBB counter officer to remain on manual renewal and he confirmed that (I do not want to opt for the auto-renewal process, knowing I will be leaving Switzerland one day). But I’m afraid if things could have changed without any notice to me, so far I didn’t receive any email from SBB regarding renewal or cancellation of my Half-fare. In my SwissPass login, the column Contract Status : Cancelled as of 17.12.2024 - Is this means the Half-fare card will be not be auto-renewed upon it’s expiry on 17.12.2024?
If on auto-renewal, the contract status should Now be showing Cancelled as of 17.12.2025? Kindly advise if my understanding of your statement is correct here. If SBB requires 1 month notice for termination, by right they should renew and show the new validity 1 month before expiry in SwissPass login. Is this how it works?

A manual renewal is only offered to people not living in Switzerland or one of the neighbouring countries. I assume the ticket officer renewed the half fare card and terminated the contract right away, to avoid an auto-renewal. This is the official procedure if a resident does not want to auto-renew the card; however, I do not see your point as you will have to cancel many more contracts (insurances, etc.) when you leave our country; one contract more does not make a big difference in my opinion, but that’s on you do decide.

YES, your half fare card has been cancelled.
If it was not cancelled, there would not be an expiry date at all, since it is an ongoing contract without any expiry date.
