Hello Posoifea23
In my last two years, my half-fare was not on auto-renewal, I renewed and paid at SBB counter. Last year, I stressed again to the SBB counter officer to remain on manual renewal and he confirmed that (I do not want to opt for the auto-renewal process, knowing I will be leaving Switzerland one day).
A manual renewal is only offered to people not living in Switzerland or one of the neighbouring countries. I assume the ticket officer renewed the half fare card and terminated the contract right away, to avoid an auto-renewal. This is the official procedure if a resident does not want to auto-renew the card; however, I do not see your point as you will have to cancel many more contracts (insurances, etc.) when you leave our country; one contract more does not make a big difference in my opinion, but that’s on you do decide.
In my SwissPass login, the column Contract Status : Cancelled as of 17.12.2024 - Is this means the Half-fare card will be not be auto-renewed upon it’s expiry on 17.12.2024?
YES, your half fare card has been cancelled.
If it was not cancelled, there would not be an expiry date at all, since it is an ongoing contract without any expiry date.
Kind regards,
Roland
