Why can't I buy a extension Ticket?

I have a Ostwind Abonnement that covers all Zones of Ostwind. When I select a Ride from St.Gallen to Zürich with a Train thats not non stop (like the EC) I can’t select a Zone extension Ticket. The only option is a Point to Point ticket that costs way more.

With EasyRide I pay only the additional Zones.

The EC train starts from St. Gallen and stops in Zurich HB without a stop within the OSTWIND zones.

For this reason you need to buy a ticket already from St. Gallen to Zurich.

If you travel with a another train which makes lots of stops in OSTWIND zones, you pay less because you need then just to buy a ticket from the last train stop within the OSTWIND zone.

As everywhere in Switzerland, if you travel beyond a fare network, you have to purchase a ticket from the trains’ last stop within the network.

This is due to the fact that long-distance trains are financed differently from those that stop within a fare network. In other words, SBB does not receive any funds from the Ostwind season ticket for direct trains between St. Gallen and Winterthur.

With EasyRide I pay only the additional Zones.

Do you have a screenshot of such an EasyRide calculation?

I wanted to question that one too. 🙂
That would be normal if it happened on an IC1 or IR13: EasyRide will charge a Wil SG - Zürich p2p ticket, since SG-Wil is already covered with your Abo.
But if something like that happened on the EC, then something went definitely wrong in EasyRide (in your favor, so shhhh…). Without any stops between SG and ZH and based on the time of travel, EasyRide should actually identify the EC you took and therefore charge you the full SG-ZH p2p ticket.

Sorry I asked my question Wrong.

I have the Ostwind Abonnement.

I select a Ticket from Engelburg-Zürich.
I select a Connection thats not non stop.

From my perspective I should be able to buy an extension ticket. Because I can drive from Engelburg-Wil without a Ticket and only need a Ticket from Wil to Zürich. But I can’t

Again: Z-Pass and Ostwind are two different fare networks. You cannot combine a ticket of each when using the IC trains.

Ein gültiges OSTWIND-Ticket, welches räumlich an einen Z-Pass anschliesst, kann zusammen mit diesem zur durchgehenden Fahrt benützt werden, sofern das benützte Verkehrsmittel einen fahrplanmässigen Halt innerhalb einer auf dem Z-Pass-Fahrausweis aufgeführten OTV-Zone (8xx oder 9xx) hat.

The point is that zhe Z-Pass “Korridor” area ist not covering the entire Ostwind network area, only the eastern parts. See the specific zone map => here
What you’re asking for would work, if you’d live e.g. in zone 975, than you could buy a Z-Pass extension ticket from the last Ostwind stop = Wil.
But since St. Gallen and Engelburg are located outside this “corridor”, as a consequence a point-to-point ticket wll be offered to Zurich as per your screenshots. And “deducting” zones from point-to-point tickets is not possible/defined, due to the completely different concepts and rules relating to zone and p2p tickets (e.g. unlimited travel within/between zones vs. only 1 journey per direction with p2p).
