Second is saver offer international - Schaan Bahnhof to Chur via Buchs SG. 2. Purchased from directly sbb.ch website as a ticket from Salzburg to Chur. What I want to make sure is that I know what is to do in the event we miss the connection. If that happens, do we have to take the exact bus or any options (if available) are ok as long as we don't change the route? And if there are any other steps involved such as making any changes in ticket by showing it to someone or directly in the app.

As a rule of thumb, the trip planner would not come up with an itinerary that is per se not feasible. So you can rest assured that public transit just works as reliably as the movement of a Swiss watch.

Should one train or bus be late, you can simply continue witt the next possible train / bus that will take to further to your destination.

That is an odd routing. Personally I would have taken the train an hour later, to avoid those two busses.
But anyway, public transit here tries to be efficient. The operators know that people do not like it when their time is wasted, so they try to keep transfers short. In this case this obviously failed as you have an outrageous 23 minutes between train and bus in Feldkirch. The rest of the route looks better.

Krist I am SO VERY concerned about this. I am wondering if I need to ask customer service to put me in next available bus/train already.

Thank you RonaldP for assuring that it will be ok. Any chance you know how well signs are directing to appropriate location to catch the bus? And in the event we miss it, do we need see anyone for moving us to the next bus/train?

Can someone pls point me to the right channel to see if bus portion can be swapped with a train later? I don’t know how to contact there.

What is the routing printed on your ticket? Normally there is a “VIA” line on the ticket somewhere. And who did you buy the ticket from?

Generally if you want to change a ticket before you are travelling you need to contact the point of sales. If you miss a connection during travel you deal with the operator directly on the spot. In this part of Europe if you miss a connection you just take the next one. No need to change a ticket. Those busses and the train to Chur all run every half hour.

In this case I would not worry to much. The connection times are not short. The one in Feldkirch is even ridiculously long. You will have no problem finding the buses, everything is well signposted.

And you will actually set foot in Liechtenstein! Lots of tourists go out of their way to be able to do this!

If you miss your connection just take the next bus (or train) on the route your ticket is valid for. Nothing special is needed.
