On Saturday I took the 0937 train from Zermatt to Geneva. Arriving early at the station I decided to grab a coffee in the pizza restaurant, leaving my wheeled double ski bag by the sliding doors. Within 5 minutes I arrived back to find the bag gone. I asked station staff if they’d seen anything and was directed to the ‘info point’. A member of staff inside the baggage ‘info point’ said he’s he’d never heard of baggage going missing.
As I left the ‘info point’ I decided to check the train on the platform, the 0907 was a couple of minutes from leaving. There, left inside the entrance to the carriage, was my ski bag! With the doors about to close I charged on and manged to hold them open while grabbing my bag.
Was this a case of someone ‘helpfully’ putting a bag on a train or is there something more sinister going on?
