Swiss Pass Customer Number Activation

I am trying to register for a Swiss Pass customer number. I get to the point where it says Login data and then an “unexpected error has occured. Please try again”. The next step #4 is Activation, but I can’t get that far. What am I doing incorrectly? I have the SBB app on my phone already.

Firstly, welcome to the SBB Community.

I am trying to register for a Swiss Pass customer number.

What’s your motivation to do so?
If you are a tourist, there is no reason for it.
If you are a resident, you must purchase a travel card in order to get a customer number.

Thank you Roland for your excellent advice. From information I was reading it looked like so many people were needing an Swiss Pass customer number. I have the SBB app on my phone and I believe that is all I need to buy the Half Fare Card and my trips after that.

So you need in fact a Swiss Half Fare Card valid for 1 month?

We are going to Zurich for 4 days, Lucerne for 4 days and to Grindelwald for 5 days and then back to Zurich for a day to catch our flight back to Canada. We want to purchase a Half Fare Card and then a Jungfrau Region card for our time in Grindelwald and area (Lauterbrunnen, Murren, Wengen and Grindelwald First). I hope this is correct?

OK, I see.
Well, yes, the Swiss Half Fare Card and a Jungfrau Pass makes sense. If you have children under 16 years of age, do not forget to request the complimentary Swiss Family Card so they can travel for free whenever accompanied by you.
