I am traveling from Scotland in to Milan Malpensa Airport. I went to buy a train ticket to Lugano , it says Valid for 240 minutes when is that from and to

You must not take a specific train from Malpensa to Lugano, but your journey must take place during the validity of the ticket. For example, if your ticket is valid from 08:19 to 12:19, you can take the trains leaving Malpensa at 08:19, 09:19 or 10:19 on the day of validity.

What about the Lugano to Milan leg of journey, can I get any connection ?

If you take a regional train between Lugano and Milan, the same tickets valid for 4 hours are issued.

If you take an Eurocity train, seat reservations are mandatory, you cannot take a later train.
