Hello, my wife and I are traveling from Zermatt to Milan and purchased a Eurail pass. When attempting to plan a trip in Eurail there was one leg that needed a reservation but I could not book the reservation in Eurail so I contacted there customer service for help. Below is the response. My question is…. if the bus is a replacement for the EC41 train why did I have to pay $55 ea for the bus? Why isn’t this covered under the Eurail pass?
Thank You for any advise on this matter.
Response from Eurail……
Please note that the bus you are taking is a replacement bus (used to cover the EC41 Geneve-Milano-Venezia line normally).
Unfortunately, as replacement buses are usually an impromptu solution, they cannot be booked online. There are two things I can suggest:
the reservation can be purchased only in person from the bus driver, or remotely by contacting the operator (SBB or Trenitalia) directly. SBB contact page is here
Alternatively, you can use one of the indirect routes realised with regional trains, or if you are departing from a station different than Martigny, look at “workaround” routes (let us know if you need help with that!)
