We (2 adults) will be making a short visit to Switzerland this July (Arrive July 7 Depart July 10). When we were there last year I was thoroughly confused by the ticket system and I think I bought passes I didn’t need or were not useful.

Could someone suggest the best tickets and/or passes for this itinerary:
July 7 Arrive ZRH late morning; travel to Interlaken for lodging.
July 8 Interlaken local tour OR Jungfraujoch visit
July 9 Jungfraujoch visit OR Interlaken local tour
July 10 Depart Interlaken for ZRH in AM for early afternoon ZRH departure.

I am just looking for suggestions on what type of SBB passes we should buy. We can adhere to train schedules or be flexible if that makes a difference as to the recommended pass type.

The choice is relatively simple: the Swiss Half Fare Card plus individual tickets as you go. For Zurich Airport to Interlaken and back, a Saver Day Pass might be a great fit.

However, when reading your lines, I had question marks about the usefulness of such a journey. You are flying into Switzerland just to get to Jungfraujoch; is this reasonable? What if you come here in a week with rainy weather?

As seasoned travelers we have encountered many weather setbacks and have learned “c’est la vie!”.

I book all one-way flights when visiting Europe as the best airline rewards appear. I did not know until 10 days ago that I will be returning home from Zurich. Because Switzerland is such a beautiful country we shortened our stay in another country by 3 days just to visit a couple of places we have not been to in the past. For sure, it will not be our last visit to Switzerland.
