24h tickets do only exist in the ZVV network, all other day tickets in all other fare networks (including SBB point-to-point tickets or other countries) do expire at 5am. Those ‘exotic’ ZVV 24h tickets are not compatible with the FairTiq technology, which is used by EasyRide and even by ZVV in their own app! As the rest of the world doesn’t revolve around Zurich (for good reasons), the slightly cheaper calendar ZVV day tickets are charged after that 5am deadline when using FairTiq/EasyRide.
You can still buy a ZVV 24h ticket in advance once you know that you will travel in the same zones one afternoon only + the following morning. Most ZVV commuters with a ‘normal’ daily routine are basically fine with a regular day ticket and appreciate the 10% discount when using Fairtiq/EasyRide (provided they’re aware of that at all).
