Como-Lucerne trip question

Greetings,

Our family ( two adults and two children aged 7 and 2) will be traveling on a non-stop train from Como, Italy to Lucerne, Switzerland . Our 7-year-old child holds a free family ticket under our Swiss Half Fare Card. Is a separate ticket required for the Italy segment of our journey? The ticket conditions specify children aged 15 and under can travel for free when accompanied by two or more adults. The tickets were procured through the SBB application.

Yes, the Swiss Family Card is not valid in Italy. You should have got a ticket from SBB for the child if the child was correctly declared during purchase.

What tickets did the SBB app produce for you? Can you be more precise? If you added everyone correctly you should have the right tickets.

Krist this is what I got from SBB. Why I didn’t get charged for the Italy portion then.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I got a ticket, which is free for my kid. I am not sure why SBB didn’t calculate and charge me the cost for Italy portion.

Yes, this is a valid ticket for your child. It is a special family offer from Trenitalia and has nothing in common with the SBB Swiss Family Card. You are all set.

On top you see “Bimbi Gratis”, which is just Italian for “Children free”.
