How do I reserve a seat only on EC172 when the option is not offered?

Hi I have bought a 1st class ticket from Berlin to Bellinzona via Basel through Deutsche Bahn. I have been able to reserve my seat for Berlin-Basel but the option is not offered for Basel-Bellinzona, and when I tried to do it here (it’s train EC173), following all the instructions, there is nowhere where it offers “seat reservation only”.

You cannot reserve seats on that train for domestic connections. I wouldn’t botther anyway, as it is unlikely you will be on it. Trains from Germany are usually late in Basel, so you will just continue to Bellinzona by whatever is the next service going there.
