Child Aged 4 Years Charged For Seat Reservation

I booked a train from Spiez to Milan for my family (6 adults and 2 children, aged 4 and 7). All adults have Swiss Half Fare Cards.

I noticed something odd: my 7-year-old daughter was charged CHF 14 for the seat reservation, while my 4-year-old son was charged CHF 35. I didn’t select any discount for my son since he doesn’t have a Swiss Family Card.

Is this pricing correct? It seems strange that a 4-year-old was charged more than a 7-year-old.

Would appreciate any insights or suggestions.

This is international travel; in Italy, all children at the age of 4 and older must have ticket.
You could have purchased the Swiss Family Card for the 4 years old, too, to benefit from the same ticket cost.

I actually bought fare passes from klook and it did not allow me to buy for my 4 year old. Is there anything that can be done now?

You have to see with Klook. SBB cannot do anything with tickets from a reseller.

I, personally, would never purchase tickets from a reseller (in particular, Klook) but from the railway company directly. Trenitalia and SBB even have a Bimbi gratis (children for free) offer sometimes (depending on availability).
