Pickpocketed at the Interlaken Ost station

I am a tourist from Canada. I, along with my family, was coming from Luzern to Montreux today with a short break at the Interlaken Ost station. I was pulling a suitcase up on the ramp to platform 8. I suddenly felt pressure on my back pocket. I touched the pocket and the pocket is empty - my wallet is gone. I had multiple credit cards, bank cards, cash in CHF, C$ and US$ as well as some identifications including drivers licence. I submitted an incident report online to SBB. I was not able to submit a police report in Interlaken as I had to take the train with my family. I was planning to submit it upon arrival in Montreux. However, I found the police stations closed when I arrived in Montreux. I will have to submit it tomorrow morning.

This incident ruined my Interlaken Ost to Montreux Golden Pass trip which my family and I were looking forward to.

I would appreciate advice on any other steps that I should take in addition to filing a police report.

We are leaving Switzerland in about 36 hours.

You should take precautions. One ting one should never, ever, ever do in Europe is have their wallet in the back pocket. That is really a no no. That makes you stand out as a naive tourist, and an easy mark.

Regarding the police report: You should have done that in Interlaken, as Montreux is in a different part of the country. What you should of course do is have your credit cards blocked. Especially US credit cards are popular as they have lower security then European ones.

Thank you @Krist for your reply with suggestions. Yes, I blocked all my credit cards. I guess I learned my session in regard to safeguarding wallet. I have been coming to Geneva at least twice a year since 2010 for business and I never felt unsafe. I should have been careful in Interlaken as it is a tourist destination.

Leaving Switzerland today and going home. I filled a police report in Montreux. Hoping the pickpocket will leave the wallet somewhere with my identity cards in it after taking the cash. Unfortunately, our family vacation was ruined a bit by this incident. However, we are leaving with good memories about this beautiful country, amazing SBB services and wonderful people. I will post an update if my wallet is ever found.
