Point-to-Point travel card validity on trains that do not stop at end-point

I have an annual point-to-point travelcard that I use to travel from home to work. I would like to go on a trip at the weekend and the train I want to get is on the same route at the start of the journey as my point-to-point travelcard but the train I want to get does not stop at “my end-stop” (i.e. the stop I get off at for work). Can I simply buy a ticket from “my end-stop” to my final destination even if that particular train does not stop there or do I need to buy a ticket for the full journey?

My point-to-point is Sion-Visp. I want to go Sion-Domodossola. The train I want to take only stops in Sion, Brig (after Visp), then Domodossola.

With a national point-to-point travel card you can purchase/use a ticket from Visp to Domo even in the event the train does not have a scheduled stop at Visp.

It would not have been possible if it was a fare network ticket, however.

Just to be clear, both must be national SBB tickets, not a Trenitalia ticket 🙂
