Hello Taipuese97
I simply copy/paste the reply I have given to a fellow SBB Community user this morning:
Given the fact that the Swiss Travel Pass is your valid train ticket, what would you need to book in advance? Another ticket?
An additional ticket would only be needed if you were about to
- upgrade your 2nd class Swiss Travel Pass to 1st class or
- use your Swiss Travel Pass to places beyond its validity, for example to places where it does not (fully) cover public transit services.
In addition, our public transit system features free seating, there are no assigned seats when booking a ticket.
And yes, the paper copy simply works the same way as a regular paper ticket: show the paper and your passport.
For now, simply board the train and show the Swiss Travel Pass together with your physical passport (no paper copy, no photo on smart phones), or other official ID issued by the state authorities (driver license, for example), when being ask to show tickets.
Does that make sense?
By the way, this website is not operated by the SBB Customer Service. We are a travel forum run by volunteer travel experts and passionate SBB clients helpong other clients. But yes, the SBB website is very informative.
Kind regards,
Roland
