Reasons behind No offers are available from Bregenz (AT) to Luzern (CH)

Hi SBB Experts, I want to buy a ticket from Bregenz (AT) to Luzern (CH) on 13 Oct 2025 at 11am with EC196- IR2576. I get “No offers are available” message on the SBB but I can buy the ticket on OBB. I am unsure if the service is operating because the SBB and OBB have different information. Does anyone know why SBB is not selling the ticket?

Hi Berno

When you buy this ticket on SBB you get two tickets: one for ÖBB (Bregenz - St. Margrethen) and one for SBB (St. Margethen - Luzern):

If you buy this ticket on ÖBB you get only one:

On 13 October 2025 the train doesn’t stop at the border station of St. Margrethen due to engineering works and the ÖBB ticketing system is unable to issue the ticket Bregenz - St. Margrethen requested by SBB.

I would buy the ticket on ÖBB, but be aware that ÖBB-tickets are no more refundable if you download them as PDF.

Hi Danhiel, it is good to know that I can still travel to Luzern by train (with no stop at St. Margrethen) on 13 Oct. I will buy my ticket from ÖBB.

Earlier I tried to call SBB but can’t get thru. I really appreciate your help.

Generally speaking buying your ticket from the railway your trip starts on is usually the best option.

One more information. These Eurocity trains come from München and are very often delayed, due to the bad punctuality in German network. It is not a problem, if you miss the connection in Zürich you have other trains every 30 minutes. In worst case you must already change in Winterthur. I hope that you will be lucky on this day. Keep in mind that you could obtain a compensation if you arrive with a delay of 60 minutes or more in Luzern.

You should ask SBB directly.

I only observe that they split the tickets at the border station, except for Saver/Supersaver Tickets or global prices (EC to Italy, TGV to France).

I think that SBB can no longer sell traditional international tickets because the old software is no more available, the computers (IBM) are now out of service.
