Train got cancelled on midway by Sat, 04.10.2025

We were travelling in a reserved train from
München Hbf - Winterthur (ECE 96) and to Zurich HB on Sat, 04.10.2025. Train journey got cancelled at St.Margeth station with the reason “driver is not available to continue the journey”. We never expected this reason from SBB and had a high opinion on Swiss transport.
They delayed by more than 45 minutes and then gave the reason. This had caused hardship in our journey and took another train from Platform 1 to Zurich HB at 22.15.
We planned to travel to other Swiss tourist attractions but we have to cancel due to this hardship caused to us.

Although the SBB train from Munich to St. Margrethen is operated by Deutsche Bahn:

This may happen if someone gets suddenly sick. It could even happen to you and has nothing to with the nation but safety.

If you had a delay of more than 60 minutes you can claim a compensation.

I am sorry that your trip did not go as planned. But isn’t it great how, when a train gets cancelled you can just take another train and get to your final destination anyway, albeit with a delay?
