Ticket enquiry/help for Melchsee Frutt

Hi. 11th January I’m going from Zurich Airport to Melchsee Frutt for 3 days.

On the SBB app I have put in Zurich Flughfen to Melchsee Frutt Panorama Lift. It takes a journey on 2 trains to Sarnen, bus to Stockap and then cable car to Bergstation. The itinerary on the app says all the way through including bus number and cable car number. so does that price quoted cover all modes of transport? Just never seen that before.

Second question is a bit complicated. I have UK train staff Rail Coupons. Zurich to Luzern looks like SBB. Is Luzern to Sarnen private rail? I may need to order an SP coupon. I’m guessing that’s as far as my coupon will go so then pay the rest of the journey on half travel card as I have an FIB pass.

Yes, it is current in Switzerland that direct tickets include buses and cable cars. Tickets are issued in behalf of the SwissPass alliance, which includes almost all public transport companies.

Pleas note that it is a public community and we don’t answer questions about train staff discounts. Most people answering the questions don’t work for SBB and have no information on this.

Understand your comment about staff travel. Are you able to confirm if Luzern to Sarnen is SBB or private rail?

This is a private railway (Zentralbahn), but SBB is the main shareholder and you can also find the SBB logo on the trains. I really don’t know what rules apply.
