The vast majority of single ZVV journeys involving 3 zones take less than an hour.
You just found one of the exceptions confirming the general rule: In fact, it does involve 3 transfers, and in particular an approx. 1/2h waiting time in Uster, which is rather unusual and will generally pose a challenge for any 1 hour ticket.
The alternate connection via Pfäffikon ZH is 10 minutes quicker overall, but does also involve 3 transfers with one ‘bad’ transfer situation: This time at Kloten station - 25 minutes waiting time for a 1-minute bus ride (only one stop) within Kloten. So here, every reasonable person would simply walk those 5 minutes from the Kloten station to Schluefweg.
With that alternate routing, the journey takes 45 minutes to Kloten station + 5 minutes of walking, and the ticket for that trip involves 4 zones and is therefore valid 2h instead of 1h…
So the choice is yours 🙂
Because as already mentioned by Tafunge25, the 3 zone ticket will also be valid after 1h according to the ZVV tariff conditions (route is also being suggested by the electronic timetable).
