Saver Day Pass validity from Tirano (Italy)

Hi everyone,
I’ve purchased a Saver Day Pass for a specific day and I’m planning to travel from Tirano (Italy) to Chur, and then continue on to Zurich.
Since Tirano is outside Switzerland, I’m a bit unsure about the validity of the pass:
Is the Saver Day Pass valid only for the Swiss part of the journey (from the Swiss border or from Chur onwards), or is it valid from Tirano, meaning all the route to Chur?
If the Saver Day Pass is not valid for the full route, what is the correct way to combine tickets for this trip?

As you will notice, for the Bernina line, its validity goes beyond the border and terminates in Tirano. This, free travel on the entire line.

Seat reservations are highly recommended as it is a line that suffers from overtourism.

Just to clarify: I am not taking the Bernina Express, but only regional trains on the following route:
• Tirano → St. Moritz (regional train)
• St. Moritz → Chur (regional train)
• Chur → Zurich

I understand that the Saver Day Pass is valid on the Bernina line up to Tirano, but my question is specifically about regional services:

Is the Saver Day Pass valid on the regional train up to Tirano?

Do not overthink it. Swiss public transit is simple to use, that is why it is so successful.

The Saver Day Pass is good for any route, no matter the mean of transport or train type. Important is, whether the line is indicated in red color. If yes, all public transport can be used.

Still: Expect the crowds.

Do you know if the regional trains I’m going to take are extremely busy at the end of March (as I’m travelling the 30th)?
Would you recommend arriving significantly early at the station to ensure a seat, or is standard arrival time usually fine?

You have new rules on the Bernina Express. In very busy periods the access to the platform may be denied if you don’t have a reservation. You receive a boarding pass valid for a later connection. March 30th is the begin of Easter Holidays and this rule could already be applied.

The only way to “ensure” a seat is to reserve one. If you do not do that, and more people board at train then there are seats you may end up being amongst the few that need to stand.

It is not so that a train will leave with passengers still on the platform, that is not how this works. Coming earlier does not affect your chances of being on the train. All you need is to be on time. I would not expect to be huge crowds in March.

Note that you can actually travel on the Bernina Express. Just not in the Panoramic cars. The normal cars at the front are however free seating.
