Exchange eight generation Bank Notes

After digging through my vault, I found the eight generations CHF bank notes around 1,660CHF. We would like to exchange it to current CHF bank notes. I understand that we can exchange at SNB, but we do not visit Zurich or Bern and also we visit Chur on Sat-Sun which banks are closed. Can we exchange it at SBB exchange? We will take Bernina express reach Chur at Saturday evening.

SBB is only dealing with current bank notes.
The exchange of bank notes is therefore not possible at SBB offices and you have to see an SNB office.

Hello ApinutA Note that you can exchange up to 10′000 swiss francs via the Graubündner Kantonalbank at the counter in Chur and up to 1000 swiss francs at every bank office. So you could probably even exchange it whereever you are staying (in two transactions).

Hi Tafunge25 , seems like Kantonalbank is closed on Sat-Sun… argh. Is there any place that could do exchange on Saturday evening or Sunday morning in Chur? For other bank office, do I need the bank account?

If staying at a hotel in Chur, you might want to check with the reception if they would accept/exchange those bills as a customer service. After all, you might not be their first guest having that issue.

Apparently, post offices or other banks are not accepting those bills anymore since 2021.

Yeah check with them and do not provide the service. Understandable since it has been 5 years, these money was when we exchanged at that time and then COVID hit…. Thank you so much.

Might need to visit any banks or money exchange I could do…

Come back for an update. We exchange the notes at Walliser Kantonalbank in Zermatt on Monday Morning. So it seems Kantonalbank might accept the exchange.
