I have been using a Swisspass for 10 years now. I travel to India for atleast 4 weeks each year and always deposit my GA before that. At first, I used to have to go to a SBB travel desk, pay a fee to do this. Then it became free, and of late, it is now possible to do it yourself online. This year when I went to India in the end of April, I forgot to deposit my GA. I thought, no problem, let me just deposit it for the next days I am still in India. So I open the SBB website and realise you can only access the website from Switzerland or possible Europe (I haven’t checked it outside of Switzerland). I collected screenshots of my inaccessibility of the SBB website. Now this is obviously not at all obvious in the terms and conditions of ‘deposit’. When I came back, I asked for help at the SBB travel centre at Basel who read out to me that the only reason a GA can be deposited in hindsight is if I was sick. If the website is accessible in Europe outside of Switzerland, this is discriminatory for travellers to other destinations. I am entirely disappointed by this experience after such a long patronage with the GA.
