question about train transfer

Hello everyone,

We are travelling with luggage from Paris to Zurich with luggage for 6 passengers and there is a TGV Lyria in the morning with one transfer, which is only 8 minutes of time in between. Is it enough time to transfer trains with luggage for 6 people?

We have no clue what the transfer will be about. The minimum connection time at Zurich HB is 7 minutes. The connection would not be offered as such if it won’t be feasible by default. Of course, all depends on your personal fitness. Try to travel light-weight, it will also ease the travel.

Where are you transfering? Is your TGV only going as far as Basel, and as a result you have to change trains to get to Zurich?
Don’t worry in that case. The transfer is probably going to be cross platform, and if you miss it you just take the next train to Zurich. There are multiple trains per hour on that route.

I think with luggage, 8 minutes is fine if both platforms are between 5 and 20.
The ’french side ’platforms 31-33 and the ‘swiss side’ platforms 1-4 are not as easy to find if you don’t know the station well or are carrying a lot of or heavy luggage. Afaik, the default case will be that both trains are in the 5-20 range, but in the case of a change of platform, you might have to hurry a little.
