I’ve just read the 2027 schedule project and I can’t believe my eyes! Are the SBB really going to continue this stupid policy of not allowing any trains to cross the Röstigraben at night? Do all the people living in Bern, Biel, Neuchâtel, Murten or Fribourg mean nothing to you????
They’re going to run the whole IC1 route at night, except between Fribourg and Bern, i.e. 20 minutes. They’re going to run the whole IC5 route at night, except between Biel and Olten, i.e. 30 minutes. And while I know the other lines are BLS’s, they’re also really short: 20 and 30 minutes.
Why? Why can we take a night train between Porrentruy and Delémont, Rheinfelden and Frick, or Buchs and Altstätten, but not between the two biggest cities in Canton Bern? Or between the two cantonal capitals of Fribourg and Bern? This is just ridiculous. They literally released a map of the night services to demonstrate just how ridiculous this is: almost every single line in the Plateau region has a night train, except for any line that crosses the Röstigraben.
And I mean, maybe demand is lower compared to the other lines, maybe. But AT THE VERY LEAST, they could AT LEAST ensure that the Moonliner has a timed connection with the existing night trains, but apparently even that would already be too much to ask…
For the love of God, please do something! We’re tired of spending our weekends sleeping on the ground at Fribourg station.
