Shipping empty bike bag to end of my weeklong bike ride

Hi there,

I’m taking the train from Bern to St Margrethen so that I can ride the Lakes Route 9 from east to west. It will take 8 days, and I will end up in Lausanne. My intention is to ship my empty bike bag (like an Orucase, 197cm in total dimensions) from Bern to Lausanne via SBB baggage shipping to rendezvous with me, but the fine print sounds like I need to be in possession of a Bern to Lausanne ticket. Since I’m riding my bike to Lausanne, this is impossible.

Please let me know what my options are, thank you in advance.

Yes, correct. You cannot send luggage without being in possession of a ticket for the same route. For this, you have to use Swiss Post or DHL and similar.

Or you purchase a Supersaver ticket for that route and day while you cycle.

Thank you. Would a Bike Day Pass be sufficient or do I need something like a Saver Day Pass that covers my personal transit rather than merely my bike?

It has to be a passenger ticket as the bike cannot travel on its own.
