Question: Swiss Family Card / Grandchild Card Eligibility

Hi,
I will be travelling to Switzerland with my mother and my 15-year-old nephew. Could you please confirm whether my nephew is eligible to travel free:

when accompanied by his aunt (me), or
when accompanied by his grandmother (my mother)?

If he is eligible to travel free with his grandmother, could you please advise:

How can we obtain a Grandchild Card or the appropriate travel card?
Can it be arranged online, or do we need to visit an SBB Travel Centre?
What documents do we need to provide to prove the grandparent-grandchild relationship?

Hello Mia2026

Any other person (including grandparents) than their parents accompanying the child can either purchase the children day pass (for a single trip) or the children co-travel card. Valid 1 year, for CHF 30 per year and accompnying person. The latter must be in the possession of a valid ticket.

It is only available at the SBB travel center, not online. No sort of relationship has to be proven.
