Purchase Round trip Tickets

How do purchase round trip tickets for same day travel? Must you buy tickets for Northbound trip and, then go in and purchase the return trip south? Looks like you must do the latter. Please confirm. Thank you.

Good day.
There aren’t any round trip tickets; if the return is going via a different route, you must purchase two single tickets. It is also not allowed to create a round-trip ticket using VIA stations.

As with ‘northbound’/‘soutbound’ you probably mean a return trip, so your entire journey would rather look like a curvy line than a oddly shaped ‘circle’ on a map, then you simply click/tap that button with the two arrows instead of the default with one arrow. This will usually double the single journey ticket price.
And in case of a zone based ticket (within some regional fare network), you will get a day pass instead of a ticket valid for just 1-3 hours for the same zones.

I think that OP means with “round trip” what is usually also referred to as “return”. Ie not “Rundfahrt” but “hin und zurück”.

Yes, you can buy a return ticket. Just indicate that when purchasing. A return ticket is however the price of two singles, so there is no savings, just some convenience.

Buying a “Rundfahrt”, eg Interlaken - Montreux - Bern - Interlaken is possible at the station. But for such trips you are probably best of just getting a day pass.
