Why would I pick one ticket over the other?

Why are two second class ticket prices shown when traveling from Chamonix to Zermatt? Should I just take the less expensive one?

The cheaper one says:

1× Discounted International Extension Ticket: Vallorcine (F)-Zermatt - Partially flexible fares offer, Vallorcine (F) – Zermatt via Martigny, Visp

The more expensive one says:

1× Connection Ticket International: Vallorcine (F)-Zermatt - Fully flexible fares offer, Vallorcine (F) – Zermatt via Martigny, Visp

For the Chamonix to Zermatt connection, you will receive this suggestion in the ticket option step.

The trip is divided into two parts and therefore you will receive two different tickets. However, you will need both of them.

Rahel - Thanks for your reply. When I search for Chamonix to Zermatt, I get presented TWO options (see below). I’m trying to understand the difference so I know which one to select.

Also, when you said I’ll get two different tickets, is that because the first part is in France and using their system, and the second part is using the Swiss train system?
